Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has died ... this according to Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro.
Maduro -- who was fighting back tears during the announcement -- said Chavez died today at 4:25 PM on Tuesday.
Chavez had been in Cuba for months, where he was receiving treatment for a mystery illness that turned out to be cancer.
Chavez hated America ... and blamed all of the world's problems on the United States.
He was 58.
Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías was the President of Venezuela, having held that position from 1999 until his death in 2013.
